A bit more about me

How does a cheesemaker get into UX design?

I’ve always loved cheese, making things with my hands, and being the staff photographer. Post-college in 2011, my husband and I landed a cheesemaking job on a small island in Tasmania—an unexpected adventure that eventually led us to start our own cultured butter and food business in Western Colorado.

Throughout those professional roles, I found myself taking on tasks like building websites, designing marketing materials, and creating content. These design tasks were what I truly loved and wanted to learn more about. The discovery of UX design felt like the missing piece of the puzzle, bringing together all my varied experiences.

My entrepreneurial journey has taught me invaluable lessons about small business, and my love of the arts taught me the power of design. After I studied UX design, I began extending my skills to friends in our community, helping them in brand development, web design, and photography to foster business growth.

  • My approach to design comes from a genuine understanding of what it’s like to be on both sides of a business.

  • I'm drawn to brands with a passion for making a positive impact, especially on a community scale because of the tangible results and the opportunities for collaboration and making a difference.
